VADODARA, JAN 21: Members of the Vadodara-based NGO Paryavaran Suraksha Samiti have urged representatives of industrialists from Ankleshwar and Vapi to depose before the Indian People8217;s Tribunal, when it holds a meeting here on January 24.

Samiti activist Rohit Prajapati alleged in a press note that industrial pollution had ruined the environment in more than 1,500 hectares in Ankleshwar. Likewise, he said, the chemical waste generated by the Vapi industrial area had badly affected the environment of the surrounding areas.

The IPT team lead by retired Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court A P Ravani and retired justice of the Maharashtra High Court Suresh would visit industries in Vadodara, Nandesari, Sarigam, Vapi and Ankleshwar on January 22 and 23, before conducting the hearing on January 24 at the Premanand Sahitya Sabha Hall, Dandia Bazaar, here from 9 a.m., Prajapati said.
