Triprayar, April 5: Even a far-from-impressive Kerala, the National champions and runners-up last year, did not struggle much against a rudderless Tamil Nadu in a women’s match of the National Volleyball Super League today. Kerala won 25-13, 25-17, 26-24.

After Kerala dominated the first set, TN showed a lot of improvement. From 4-14 down they rallied well to cut the Kerala lead to 13-17. TN, thanks to Sujatha’s immaculate drops, came as close as 17-21. But TN girls could not do much later and Kerala went two sets up at 25-17.

From being 3-11, TN went on to take a 17-11 lead. K Sujatha’s good setting saw her namesake executing some solid cross court smashes to give TN a 20-16 lead.

Vini Thomas’ good serves took Kerala to 23-22 lead. After levelling the scores at 24-all, Kerala regained the initiative and a well measured smash from captain Anu ended the set as well as the match at 26-24.
