UK varsity panel visits RIMT institutes

A three-member delegation from Brunell University of United Kingdom visited RIMT Group Institutes here today. The delegation comprised of Prof Keith Dickson, Head of Brunell Business School, Marjorie Baker, acting head of Brunell International Office and Dr Prof Satwinder Singh, liaison officer of the university.

The team is on a three-day visit to study and assess the academics affairs of the RIMT Group Institutes. According a warm welcome to the delegation, the RIMT group chairman, Hukam Chand Bansal said, 8220;Our group always encourages an exchange of views with institutes of international standard.8221;

The delegation also interacted with students and the members of the faculty. Prof Keith Dickson, who has done an extensive research on intellectual property rights in small and medium enterprises in UK. delivered a lecture on the IPRs and shared his experience about the same.

He threw light on the IPRs and their implications in the contemporary business world. He said SMEs in UK were coming up with IPRs but facing uphill task of infringement of these rights. They face extreme difficulty in protecting these rights in the court of law as the legal process was quite costly. Only the big enterprises can afford the IPRs like patents, copy rights and can manage resources to protect them.

Dr Satwinder Singh, in his lecture, discussed the financial crisis gripping the US and its implications in Europe and third world countries. He discussed various possible strategies to counter the crisis.

Baker, who is also a special representative of the Brunell University VC, said their team was quite impressed by the infrastructure and academic standard which the group institutes were maintaining.

Dr B.S. Bhatia, the director general of the institute, said the delegation had explored the possibilities of collaboration in academic affairs in future. He said the RIMT group and the Brunell University might sign MoU in the areas of mutual interest in the coming days.
