CHANDIGARH, Aug 18: To make the public more aware about the use of electronic voting machines, to be used for the first time in Chandigarh, the UT election department has opened two more permanent public awareness centres in Sector 37 Community Centre and the NAC building in Manimajra. One such centre is already functioning at the Sector 17 election office in the town hall building near the Estate Office.
The Election office will give a live demonstration of the use of EVMs at these centres and the public can cast a mock vote on the EVMs. A film in Hindi and Punjabi on the procedure of casting a vote through EVMs would also be shown at these centres, as well as through mobile vans. Three mobile vans would visit the Grain Market, Sukhna Lake and Sector 17 plaza, besides the villages and slums.
