Two injured in mishap

SAS NAGAR, SEPT 14: In a brutal accident here two persons lost their legs when they were crushed under a truck at the Sector 70-71 light point. Both of them were riding a scooter.

According to police sources, Navdeep Singh, son of Bant Singh, resident of Challi Kala in Chamkur Sahib, along with another person were going to their village when their scooter was hit by a truck. The truck driver fled from the spot.The injured were rushed to Government Medical College Hospital. A case has been registered under Sections 279, 337 and 338 of the IPC in Phase I police station. The truck has been impounded and further investigations are continuing. No arrest has been made so far, sources added.

In another incident, a youth Rajan Walia, resident of Phase III-B-2, was caught for stealing a moped and other petty thefts in the township. According to police sources, he was stopped for routine checking by the cops at Naka set up near YPS.

When he was asked for the documents, he failed to produce them. Police claimed during investigations, he admitted that he stole the moped and was involved in petty thefts.

A case has been registered in Phase I police station under Section 411 of the IPC.
