NAGPUR, JUNE 28: The Sitabuldi police have arrested two persons and have booked four more in connection with the bogus degrees and marksheets scam involving Assistant Registrar of the Nagpur University, Yadavrao Kohchade.

The Sitabuldi police have identified the arrested as Philip alias Punaiyya Vitthal Vergese, an employee of the administrative department of Mure Memorial hospital, Sitabuldi, and Bhaurao Ghodeswar, a resident of Bezonbagh. Philip is believed to have procured a MBA degree through Bhaurao, police said.

Philip and Bhaurao were produced before a court, Sunday, which directed both to the custody of Sitabuldi police till June 29. The bogus degree of Philip Verghese reportedly came in the notice of the University officials a few months ago and the issue was then placed fordiscussion before the University Senate. However, the issue was neither discussed nor any action taken, it is learnt.
