Two-day women8217;s seminar concludes

The presentations at the seminar included statistics on various aspects including the demographic profile, housing and neighbouring facilities, health and nutritional status of women, among others. Experts also shared their experiences and provided statistics on Socio-economic status of women, women in families and households, women in print and electronic media as well as those associated with Gujarati literature and folk media.

The workshop concluded with experts identifying gaps in each concerned area, formulating linkages among various areas to give more holistic base to women8217;s issue, planning the research design primary data collection, including formats for case studies and also enabling working out details for the final report.

M S University Vice-Chancellor Padma Ramchandran said the workshop was a base to create a forum for experts from various fields to share their experiences. She suggested that the concerned people fix a deadline for publishing the book, which should not only be informative but should also serve as a reference book.

She said those involved in assembling the facts should concentrate not only on the volume, but see to it that it includes all the details on the profile of women in the state.

The book would be part of the university8217;s golden jubilee celebrations, she added.
