NEW DELHI, October 8: The anti-corruption branch of Delhi Police today raided the residential premises of two assistant sub-inspectors (ASI), who had allegedly demanded a sum of Rs 10,000 and Rs 500 respectively as illegal gratification from members of the public. While one of them has been arrested, the other fled away minutes after his arrest. ASI Ram Chandar, posted at Jaffarpur Kalan had alleged demanded Rs 10,000 from the complainant Rakesh Kumar before he initiated action in a dowry-related case.
In the other case, ASI Gajraj Singh, posted at the Moti Nagar police station, was reportedly caught red-handed while accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 500 from a property dealer. The complainant Manjit Singh, who had been earlier arrested by the police for allegedly creating nuisance in a public place, was promised to be let off the hook by the ASI if he paid him the bribe.
