Two Arun Gawli men shot at

MUMBAI, JAN 2: In the first shootout of the year, two unidentified men shot at two office-bearers of Arun Gawli8217;s political outfit, Akhil Bhartiya Sena ABS at Kasturba Marg in north-west Mumbai on Saturday morning.

At around 11.10 am, shakha pramukh of ward no 148 Mangesh Sawant and ABS secretary Satish Bhoiwale were standing at a shop near Rae Dongri at Kasturba Marg, Borivali. The two assailants came and fired at the duo. While Sawant sustained bullet injuries in his thigh, hand, back and abdomen, Boiwale was hit on his leg. And even as the duo collapsed on the ground, the assailants escaped.

Sawant and Bhoiwale were rushed to Ankit Nursing home. They are said to be out of danger. Sawant and Boiwale had joined the ABS last year and had no known criminal records.

The police is not certain about the motive of the shootout. But possibility of an old enmity is not ruled out. The Kasturba Marg police have registered a case of attempted murder and is further investigating the case.
