
NEW DELHI, July 31: The Delhi police claim to have arrested 13 robbers from different parts of the Capital in the past 24 hours. The north-west district police have arrested two of the four accused in the Narela bus robbery case in which a commission agent coming from Khakroda in Haryana was robbed of cash amounting to Rs 50,000 last evening.
Samunder and Gopiram were arrested from the Delhi-Haryana border after a DTC bus which was passing by at the time of the robbery alerted the police post at Auchandi border. During interrogation, the accused reportedly revealed that they knew Krishan Kumar came to Khakroda regularly and went back with large amounts of money.
Samunder is reportedly involved in six cases including one under TADA, attempt to murder, robbery and murder. Gopi Ram is also involved in a murder case. The other accused in the case have been identified as Karam Singh and Satte.
The north-west district police also claim to have arrested six persons involved in at least two cases of robbery and eight cases of chain-snatching. A constable arrested 18 year-old Kuljeet Singh and recovered a country-made revolver from him. Singh8217;s interrogation reportedly revealed that he was involved in two cases of robbery and eight cases of chain-snatching, including one in which he had robbed a person of cash amounting to Rs 70,000 and his scooter in Shalimar Bagh on March 7. On the basis of information received from him, five others were later arrested. The six had robbed another scooterist of Rs 11,000 and a gold chain on June 9.
The west district police claim to have arrested five persons near the Punjabi Bagh crematorium while they were planning a robbery. According to the police, they are involved in more than two dozen criminal cases, including roadside robberies in the Capital.
The gang reportedly followed a peculiar modus operandi. The five members would move on two scooters after 9 p.m.. They would stop scooterists on the pretext of asking for an address. When a scooterist would stop, they would rob him at the point of a dagger.
All the five accused are in the age group of 19 to 22 years and are school drop-outs. Six gold chains, four gold rings, three wrist-watches and a cellphone have been recovered from them.
