
AHMEDABAD, April 19: Keshod police have arrested two persons for alleged involvement in 22 loots, murders and vehicle thefts across the State.
Police said today that Dharmesh alias Taklo Himat Khatri and Nitin Bhatt had confessed to have stolen a Maruti Van from Paldi which was recovered from Khambhatt by Gandhinagar police during investigations into Ruchi kidnapping.
Police said the blood-stained clothes found in the van belonged to Bachu K Patel, a resident of Kotdasaghani taluka. On April 10, his body was found from the outskirts of Shivrajpur village in Jasdan taluka. According to police, Bachu had gone to Morvi to sell chilies. While returning, the duo offered him lift near the Morvi bus stop, brutally murdered him and walked away with Rs 20,000 he had been carrying.
The duo also confessed to have killed Jagadsinh of Tarapur village and thrown the body in Machhu dam in Morvi, and also killed the Mahant of Hari Om Ashram in Khambhatt. They said they had stolen a Maruti car from the Gujarat College area and left it on the Bagodara highway after they met with an accident. Some 10 months back, the duo had stolen a Premier 118 NE Fiat from the Ellisbridge area and left it on the Rajkot-Surendranagar highway. Nitin is an electrical engineer and fluent in English, while Dinesh8217;s mother is a constable and his father has been sacked from the police department on the charges of murder.
Liquor seized: Kalupur police on a tip-off registered an offence against Rafiq Abdulrahman Meman under Prohibition Act and recovered about 126 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor from him. The liquor was recovered from an auto-rickshaw and two scooter.
