CHANDIGARH, Dec 4: Trains continued to run hours behind schedule for the second day even as work on repairing the damaged Delhi-Ambala track was in full swing.

Railway sources here say that the Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express reached here at about 1.40 pm – an-hour-and-a-half late. Since the same train runs back from Chandigarh to Delhi, normally at 12.40 pm, so it was also delayed.

The Himalayan Queen, whose arrival time here from Delhi is 11 am, reached more than half an hour after the arrival of Shatabdi.

Yesterday, the evening Shatabdi Express, whose scheduled arrival time here is 8.20 pm, arrived after midnight as the train had to be diverted via Saharanpur.

Railway sources say that `up’ trains, that is from Delhi to Chandigarh, are being diverted via Saharanpur and hence have a longer run. The `down’ trains, that is those leaving Chandigarh are running on the normal route via Ambala and Panipat and hence their schedules have not been affected much.
