VADODARA, Sept 1: Provision of footpath for pedestrians, easing the flow of traffic between Sayajiganj and Railway Station further and, making some amendments in the parking space near the Station came up for discussion before the Vadodara Municipal Corporation VMC traffic meet on Tuesday. It was decided to hold a meeting of experts next week to chalk out a final plan on easing traffic congestion.

Earlier, the meeting was to be held in the afternoon. However, as more suggestions came up in the preliminary meeting among Mayor Bharati Vyas, Deputy Mayor Dinesh Chokshi, City Engineer B K Desai, Additional Commissioner of Police ACP M K Tandon and others, it was decided to give time to experts to give plans with amendments.

The on-going exercise is part of the VMC8217;s efforts to draw common suggestions from the plan submitted by planner Kolhatkar, Rahul Dalvi of Dalvi Associates and Architects Association. After the VMC had decided to implement the Kolhatkar Plan, the Association and Dalvi associates had come up with their suggestions.

The representatives of elected and administrative wing discussed how people coming from Railway Station to Sayajiganj can take a right turn towards Sardar Patel statue instead of taking a circular route to Kalaghoda. Representatives of the State Transport Service are also likely to be invited before finalising the plan.

Some changes are also likely to be made in the current parking system near the Railway Station. Sources say, certain space given to the local buses for parking might be taken away to make way for other vehicles to pass by.

Slaughter houses: The VMC on Tuesday swooped down on slaughter house owners, who carried out business without permission. A wooden cabin from where hens were sold on Jetalpur road was and the cages housing the hens have been deposited with the Corporation.

The squad, which acted on the instructions of Deputy Municipal Commissioner Administration H S Patel, also seized mutton from the Sayajibaug Zoo.
