
KHARAR, July 23: Though the local traders have decided to call off their three-day-old strike, the employees of the Kharar Municipal Council are still on strike and their indefinite strike entered its third day today.
Traders called off their strike this evening following an assurance given by the Kharar MLA Daljit Kaur that no action will be taken against the traders in the case registered with the local police on the complaint of Kharar MC chief Ranbir Singh.
This assurance was given during a special meeting convened by the MLA in which the representatives of various trade and political organisations of the township, the president of the Punja Retail Karyana Merchants Association Tirlok Singh Jaggi along with his other associates, Kharar MC chief and some local counillors participated.
Earlier in the day, all the shops and commercial establishments remained closed and the Kharar Chemists Association also decided to support the bandh call to express solidarity with the various trade organisations.
