CHANDIGARH, May 25: General secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal and member of Lok Sabha Prem Singh Chandumajra yesterday urged the Akal Takht Jathedar Ranjit Singh to take strict action against the Congress leader Amarinder Singh for allegedly misleading the highest temporal seat of Sikhism.

The scion of the princely family of Patiala had earlier presented some pictures to the Takht showing the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Gurcharan Singh Tohra at a Nirankari function at Patiala.

Chandumajra termed the photographs as a fabrication. The SAD leader said he had written a letter to the Jathedar today describing how the photograph published in newspapers today was false. The Jathedar, yesterday, had asked Amarinder Singh to produce within ten days the negative of the photograph to prove his charge that Tohra had personally sought votes of Nirankaris against whom the Akal Takht had issued a hukamnama8217;.

According to SAD leader, Tohra8217;s photograph, showing him clad in warmclothes, had apparently been superimposed on a photograph of the Nirankaris during a function held last independence day. It showed the Nirankaris dressed in summer clothes.

He identified the three youths clad in khaki as Rakesh, Sonu and Honney. Chandumajra challenged that if the photograph was proved to be true he would donate all his property to the Akal Takht. If Amarinder Singh failed to establish his charge he should hand over all his property to the Takht which he had tried to mislead on earlier occasions also.

He said the done-up8217; photograph was a crude attempt to cover up previous lies told by Amarinder Singh to the Takht on this issue. Chandumajra, a known supporter of Tohra, said that a dafamation suit would be filed against Amarinder Singh for tarnishing the name of the SGPC chief.
