CHANDIGARH, Dec 14: Arya college, lUDHIANA BEAT LOCAL dav cOLLEGE, 5-2 IN their last league encounter to take home the winners trophy in the Punjab University Inter-College men8217;s softball championship held at PU Campus here today. DAV-10 got the second position while PU Campus, who held Government College, Ludhiana 10-10, in their league match, took the third spot in the meet.

In the Ludhiana-DAV tie, the initial lead enabled the former to prevail over DAV, who failed to restrict the flow of runs while fielding.

Guriqbal Singh scored two points while Shashi, Jaswinder and Puneet got one each for the winner. Vijay Thakur and Rakesh got one each for the loser.

Udayvir 3, Mahinder 2 and Rakesh 2 combined well for PU Campus, which helped the team to clinch the third place. Sanjog, Bhupinder and Anil also contributed one each to the score.

Vikram, Kanwaljeet, Harpreet, Munish, Mandeep and Rakesh scored for the loser.

PU zonal hockey
Government College, Girls-11 face an uphill task in their outing against Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, in the Punjab University Inter-College women8217;s zonal hockey tournament to be held tomorrow at PU Campus at 2 p.m.A win will ensure them a place in the league stage while a defeat would show them the exit door.

Local MCM DAV-36 and GCG-42 have been given direct seeding into the league stage.
