SAS NAGAR, Dec 4: As many as 25 taxis and three-wheelers were challaned or impounded for plying without permit here today in a renewed drive launched in the township by Roopnagar Additional District Transport Officer.

According to sources, the drive started around 10.30 a.m. and lasted for three and a half hours. The taxis and three wheelers were challaned at the Ambwala, PCA and Phase III and V light points. The impounded vehicles were sent to Phase I and Phase VIII police stations.

Punjab Open School contact programme
The Punjab Open School of the Punjab School Education Board will conduct a personal contact programme from December 6 to 21 at its approved and allotted study centres for the candidates all over the state and UT. Open School Deputy Director Paviterpal Kaur has advised the students to attend this programme to acquaint themselves with the latest developments in the educational field.

Cycle stolen
The local police has registered a case of cycle theft from Phase VII market. On the complainmt of Ram Dev Singh of Colony No five chandigarh. A case has been registered.

Assaulted
Amrik Singh of Jagatpura has compalined that he was beaten up by one Darbara Sibngh, Kulwinder Singh, Suchitar Singh all residents of Phabata village. A case has been registered under Sections 452, 307, 34 of IPC in Sohana Police station. No arrests have been made so far and investigations are on, said sources.
