Sydney, Oct 26: Nine powerlifters have testedpositive to banned drugs at the Sydney Paralympics with today’s announcement of three fresh doping cases, the International Paralympic Committee said.

IPC medical director Michael Riding said the three, whotested positive in out-of-competition testing, were from Belarus, Nigeria and Iraq, but they have not yet been formally identified.

The six other drug cheats revealed by IPC President RobertSteadward and expelled from the Games and competition for four years were Hamed Abdul al-Jandal of Saudi Arabia and Anton Puskov of Bulgaria, who both tested positive to nandrolone, an anabolic steroid.

Last Saturday IPC announced that Romania’s Aurel Berbechad tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol, Ira- N’s Ali Mahmoudikordkheili (anabolic steroid methandienone), Bulgaria’s Radko Radev (diuretic chlorthalidone) and Marina Diakonova of Russia (diuretic hydrochlorothiazide).
