The injured were first rushed to a hospital at Kamarhati and then shifted to NRS and R G Kar hospitals in Kolkata in a critical condition.

Following the incident, angry passengers squatted on the tracks and disrupted movement of trains for over five hours, demanding compensation for the kins of those killed and injured, and removal of the electric posts.
