SURAT, June 23: Three of a family were injured when a liquefied petroleum gas LPG cylinder exploded early on Wednesday morning in a house at Ghod Dod Road area here. The house was badly damaged in the blast. There was no loss of life or fire because of the mishap.

A spokesman of the fire brigade said that a LPG cylinder exploded in G-10, Block C of Setu Park Society, Ghod Dod Road. According to initial investigations, a leakage in the gas pipe near the regulator caused the blast around 6:45 am.

Those injured were Hansa Suresh Naik, 52, Arsha Pankaj Mehta, 42 and Jay Pankaj Mehta, 19. All were sleeping in the room next to the kitchen when the blast took place and were hit by splinters of furniture and other blown away items. They were discharged after medication. All the doors, windows, furniture and other items in the house were badly damaged due to the impact of the blast.
