There is rage

Why is our country suffering so much? Not war hungry, just want justice meted out. Once maybe twice...But, not again and again

Why is our country suffering so much? Not war hungry, just want justice meted out. Once maybe twice8230;But, not again and again

8220;Another dark day in Mumbai8217;s Book8230;
Now that everyone knows that it8217;s not America, Britain or Israel who lost the most lives to terror8211;its India, if one leaves out Iraq can we demand some answers from our government? Why is our country suffering so much? I thought I would try and find the answers to these questions, but when I started to, I had no idea that I would find so many of them!8221;
A Wide Angle View Of India

Ameteur attempts peppered with shallow questions
The most striking thing. As someone outside India8230;not constrained to domestic news channels8230;the frenetic, panting, often unashamed, unrepentant hunt for the newsbyte far overshadowed the significance of the tragedy and its impact on a human level. Newscasters across most channels realized that the nation, as well as the world was watching them. And their attempt to rise up to the occasion came off for the most parts as amateur attempts peppered with shallow questions8230;in some cases where it may have been more humane to just leave the victims alone to savour freedom. To add to this was the hyperbole and the sometimes garish visual effects. One channel had a blood splattered band running across the top of the screen as tv backdrop for their news ticker. Nowhere nearly close to good taste. But of course, there8217;s method to the madness. The more the sense of panic, the greater the thirst for information. And for most people8230;that choice is reduced to one of several news channels.8221;

Almost like watching an action flick
8220;8230;And then the horror unspooled itself almost like I were watching an action flick, the kind with Van Damme and Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis taking on terrorists. But these were frightened looking men, hastily putting on bullet proof vests and going in to confront demons. Demons with AK 47s and carbines and satellite phones and the training that made them merciless killers. Spraying bullets, holding people hostage in the Taj and the Trident, and gunning people down at CST and near Metro. Taking hostages at Cama Hospital. It wasnt sinking in, I sat stunned in front of the television, the hours turning into minutes, online with friends around the world. Messages and calls started pouring in, by the bucket load, Are you alright, is everyone safe?8230;8221;

It looks more like war than terrorism
First we heard they have received an email from Deccan Mujaheddin, now it is Lashkar ai taiba, who came in a boat from Karachi. Whoever it is, this looks more more like war, than terrorism. I hope all our political leaders react to this 8216;war like situation8217; with maturity. Have not heard any blame game as of now, which is a relief.8221;

8220;I don8217;t know whether my fear is more overpowering

or my anger.
It8217;s been 13 straight hours that I8217;ve been glued to the television. And another 6 hours, last night. What is unbelievable is the fact that it8217;s been 24 hours and there doesn8217;t seem to be an end in sight. The sad part is that there doesn8217;t seem to be any knowledge of who the attackers are, how many of them are there, and how many hostages they actually hold. But there is rage. A simmering amongst most of the people I8217;ve spoken to. A simmering against our so called leaders. A simmering against the unpreparedness for an attack of this nature. And a weariness against the phrase 8220;spirit of Mumbai8221;. What use is spirit if you don8217;t know whether you or your loved ones are safe in the city. And, really, there can be display of 8220;spirit8221; once, maybe twice. But, not again and again.8221;
