PUNE, April 21: The spate of robberies witnessed in the city and rural outskirts since Sunday continues unabated despite intensified vigil. Two of them took place on Monday night. The police claimed they have cracked both the robberies by arresting those involved.

Navin Kumar Dipak Singh, a 19-year-old collegian from Delhi, has been arrested by the Yerawada police on charges of attacking and robbing a labour supplier from Lohegaon near Yerawada post office.

Singh was arrested after the labour supplier, Ramhari Bhausaheb Londhe, lodged a first information report naming him as one of the three persons who robbed him.

Londhe alleged that Navin Kumar and his accomplices intercepted him while he was returning home around 11 p.m. on Monday. They assaulted Londhe and relieved him of Rs 10,000 in cash and a cellular phone, police said. Navin Kumar, an FYBA student is hostelite.

Six residents of Kedgaon village near Yavat on Pune-Solapur road have been arrested by Pune rural police in a separate robbery at Yavat on Monday.

Among those arrested were Bhima Thorat, Arjun Thorat, Baban Madne, Viju Hake, Dada Pise and Bhagvan Khandal. Police said the accused stormed the residence of Bapu Handal along with five others.They allegedly divested Handal of Rs 22,000 after attacking him.
