BATTING FIRST
VENUGOPALA RAO, capt 24, Andhra: He has been in and out of the Indian one-day team but is certainly part of Chappell8217;s Vision 2007. His unbeaten 61 in the middle order against Pakistan means Young India skipper has got the measure of the Sheikh Zayed wicket8212;a huge advantage.
ROBIN UTHAPPA 20, Karnataka: Aggressive opener has made his mark in senior team but knows that with Virender Sehwag back in form, he will have to make most of the opportunities available, starting this tour.
SHIKHAR DHAWAN 20, Delhi: Left-handed opener did not shine last season, but has made his mark as a strokeplayer. Ideal chance to bounce back.
S BADRINATH 25, TN: Right-handed top-order batsman, 8216;Badri8217; has performed well in almost all age groups. Best chance now to make that big leap into national reckoning. Averages nearly 45 in first class cricket.
A JHUNJHUNWALA 23, W Bengal: In just 5 first class matches, right-handed batsman played a role in team reaching Ranji final.
ALL-ROUND PLAY
S VIDYUT 24, TN: His Left-arm spin has overshadowed his batting, of late, but remains coach Robin Singh8217;s trusted batsman. Has been in domestic circuit for almost eight years with first class strike rate of almost 100.
ROHIT SHARMA 18, Mumbai: Next big batting hope, played in under-19 World Cup, scored 143 n.o against a strong North Zone attack in Deodhar Trophy. Chips in with handy off-spin. Huge chance after just 3 first class matches.
R S SODHI 25, Punjab: Once touted as the next Kapil Dev, Sodhi8217;s inclusion, after he last played for the senior one-day side in 2002, is a surprise. The 8216;comeback8217; should do his confidence a world of good.
SPIN STARS
RAVINDRA JADEJA 17, SAURASHTRA: Left-arm spinner vital to India A plans. Coach Robin Singh has high hopes from him. Accuracy and ability to curb run-flow on slow tracks makes him special.
PIYUSH CHAWLA 18, UP: With R P Singh, Chawla is the only other member to have played a Test. Touted as India8217;s No. 2 leg-spinner after Anil Kumble, Chawla knows one great haul would get him in the Test team for West Indies.
FAST FORWARD
RP SINGH 20, UP: Left-arm pacer is only India one-day regular in the side. Will be looking to get much-needed practice ahead of the Windies tour.
VRV SINGH 21, Punjab: After injuries 038; lack of form, VRV had a forgetful senior one-day stint. Will get an extended spell here, will look to get back his line and length.
SS PAUL 24, W Bengal: Has pace, known to be a workhorse, but has not been in Team India scheme. Got a Test call against Australia in 2004, but didn8217;t play. Abu Dhabi best chance to return.
AND THE KEEPER
DINESH KAARTHICK 20, TN: India8217;s second best keeper-batsman, perhaps the best keeper. Kaarthick knows with Dhoni around, his senior chances are nil. But good show can get him 2nd keeper slot in Windies Test series.
