I usually like reading your articles because the criticisms you make are valid and constructive. I agree with your comments about the UPA government’s initial willingness to try to win over Naxalites, ULFA etc. using soft tactics. But I get the impression now that UPA has realised this is not working and is reviewing its tactics.
I do not agree with you that after the terrorist attack on Ayodhya, Advani and BJP have kept things under tight control. On the contrary, they have been engaging in the worst kind of name-calling and chauvinism. By the way, there were several terrorist attacks during the NDA government tenure when the ‘Iron Man’ Advani was the Home minister and POTA was in existence.
If there is any truth in the view that Manmohan Singh government is weak, is it the fault of Dr Singh ? He may be a mild-mannered, soft-spoken man. But I do not for a moment think that where India’s interests are concerned, Dr Singh is a pushover. I am mighty proud that India now has an illustrious PM. If the Left doesn’t bark so much, the state governments are more responsible, and some within his own party are more co-operative, Dr Singh, despite obstructions from BJP, will be able to take India to much greater heights.

Your article on the resurgence of terrorism and anti-nationalism is very perceptive. The writing is just appearing on the wall and it is hardly being recognised.
