The fact that US President George W. Bush did not name India in the list of terror victims, in his address to the 58th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, is a matter of grave concern. This explains why his country never supported us in our battle against terrorism, for it never considered us to be a victim of this menace!
This also raises the question whether in his mind the American president appreciates the stand Pakistan has taken on the Kashmir front, that all the violence there is only part of a 8216;8216;freedom struggle8217;8217;.
This is yet another grim reminder to us that we are alone in our fight against terrorism. The Vajpayee government has to make very judicious and calculated moves if India is to emerge a winner in this complex and challenging situation.

Diplomatic mess
The article 8216;In New York, Delhi pays price for two envoys8217; IE, September 22 makes for dismal reading. It is strange that two senior citizens are brazenly tugging for power under the very nose of the prime minister.
Whatever the compulsions for appointing two envoys, this overlap is decidedly muddying the waters. And, after all, who is paying for the liberties taken by the ambassador-at-large?

In a time warp
At his press conference at New Delhi8217;s Taj Hotel, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said that they had coped with Arab terror for 120 years now 8216;Sharon8217;s roaring goodbye8217; IE, September 12.
What happened in the Middle East in the 1880s for Sharon to say this? An answer to this question is important to gauge how wide the Arab-Israeli divide really is.

Cobra net
Very funny indeed to see a Union minister making so much of an effort to do all this 8216;Joshi at home, his deputy at work with a cobra necklace8217;, IE, September 24.
We Indians appear to have nothing better to do with our time.

No compromise
Kashmir is an integral part of India, and at any cost one should fight to save our brothers and sisters living in Kashmir from the evil designs of Pakistan 8216;India rejects Musharraf8217;s offer to talk on Kashmir8217;, IE, September 25.
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is right when he says that first Pakistan should stop cross-border infiltration into India, then only can New Delhi consider bilateral negotiations.

Marking Antony
I don8217;t think any political party or any leader of Kerala has contributed anything positive to the state till date; they have only deformed the political set-up 8216;Why no ayurvedic oil can make Cong bend back to please the two8217;, IE, September 25.
Chief Minister Antony seems to be more well-meaning than other politicians, but the prospects of his beating the system are bleak.
