
NEW DELHI, June 22: Sachin Tendulkar has climbed to second spot in the Pepsi world cricket season ratings for Test matches.
The ratings mirror the asymmetry between India8217;s batting and bowling strengths. While four Indian batsmen 8212; Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Navjot Sidhu 8th and Saurav Ganguly 11th 8212; fall in the top 20 list, only Anil Kumble 17th is among the bowler8217;s list, released today.
Tendulkar 6888 trails Sri Lanka8217;s Aravinda De Silva 8107 by over 1,000 points.
Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin has climbed to the fourth spot behind Pakistan8217;s Azhar Mahmood, while Sanath Jayasuriya stayed among the top five with 5574 points.
Among bowlers, Angus Fraser of England who had a good tour of the West Indies, is top-ranked 9436 while Allan Donald of South Africa is not too far behind 8279.
Donald8217;s teammate Shaun Pollock is fifth in the rankings behind Australia8217;s Glenn McGrath and the West Indian Curtly Ambrose.
The qualifying condition for batsmen was a mean score of 500 runs and for bowlers 20 wickets.
