Telecom dept slashes Internet charges

CHANDIGARH, April 8: The Department of Telecom has reduced the Internet charges in the Chandigarh Telecom Region, comprising Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.

According to a department spokesman, while the usage charges of Internet for 100 hours have been reduced from Rs 3,000 to Rs 2,550, those for 250 hours have been reduced from Rs 6,500 to Rs 5,525. Those for 500 hours, have been reduced to Rs 8,500 from Rs 9,500.

The registration charges for new Internet users would, however, remain the same at Rs 500. Besides, the renewal charges for Internet usage have also been reduced by 20 per cent for various slabs.
