TATA Infotech Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 12.02 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2003, as against a net loss of Rs 1.13 crore in the same period last fiscal. The total income for the reporting quarter was up 41 per cent at Rs 138.19 crore compared to Rs 97.90 crore in April-June 2002, a company release said here on Friday.

Nafed net profit rises

NEW DELHI: Driven by increased international trade in commodities and price support operations, Nafed National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation has posted a 17 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 4.14 crore in 2002-2003 from Rs 3.54 crore last year. The cooperative has also shown a record turnover of Rs 2,311.82 crore, up 39 per cent from Rs 1,665 crore in 2001-02.

Alstom Ltd Q1 net up

NEW DELHI: Alstom Limited has registered a net profit of Rs 39 lakh for the first quarter against a loss of Rs 83 lakh in the same period last year. While sales increased by 10 per cent to Rs 115 crore from Rs 105, the operating profit before interest and depreciation improved by 49 per cent, said a company release.

Dr Reddy8217;s net drops

HYDERABAD: Despite a six per cent growth in the total revenue to Rs 481.2 crore, the net income of pharma major Dr Reddy8217;s Laboratories Limited dropped by 34 per cent to Rs 79.2 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal on a year-on-year basis. The board of directors took on record the unaudited results for the quarter ended June 30, 2003, showing a 31 per cent drop in the operating income from Rs 121.4 crore in the corresponding quarter last year to only Rs 84.2 crore this quarter.

Essar Steel Q1 net up

MUMBAI: ESSAR Steel Ltd on Friday said it has registered an all round growth in performance for the first quarter ended June 30, 2003, posting a net profit of Rs 10.25 crore as against the loss of Rs 138.22 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal. During this quarter, the company8217;s total income registered a growth of 48 per cent at Rs 784.84 crore as against Rs 529.58 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

CMC pat up 23

NEW DELHI: CMC Limited, now controlled by Tata group, on Friday announced profit after tax PAT at Rs 11.74 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2003, as compared to the same quarter last year. The company also reported a 63 per cent jump in its total revenues to Rs 159.26 crore as against Rs 97.71 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Kribhco net at Rs 40cr

NEW DELHI: Cooperative fertiliser major Kribhco on Friday reported a pre-tax profit of Rs 40.01 crore for 2002-03 even after refunding Rs 192 crore to the government due to revision in the retention price of urea. Kribhco8217;s Surat plant produced 16.03 lakh mt tonne of urea and 9.92 lakh mt of ammonia, operating at 92.72 per cent and 98.84 per cent capacity utilisation respectively, a press release said here.
