Tanwar murder case probe begins

NEW DELHI, May 10: The CBI has started investigating the five-year-old mystery behind Dr S Tanwar8217;s murder. The city police and its crime branch failed to name even a single suspect in the case.

quot;The CBI has procured details of investigations done by the city police and the crime branch. It is studying them for a possible clue which might have been overlooked by the police,quot; a senior official in the agency told PTI.

The Delhi high court on April 22 had transferred the probe from the city police to the CBI and had asked the agency for a status report by May 25. The official said the first status report quot;may not throw any light on the casequot; as CBI has to study voluminous investigation reports containing over 50 statements recorded by the police.

Severed parts of Tanwar8217;s body were found on October 29 and November 4, 1993.
