Delegations of the Congress and the BJP were scheduled to meet the Election Commission with their respective petitions on the timing of the Himachal Pradesh elections. The Congress team led by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh wanted the elections postponed, while the BJP wanted the EC to stick to the schedule it had announced. When the BJP delegation reached the second floor, the Congress group, having finished its discussions, was waiting for the elevator. “We are going and you have arrived,” the chief minister remarked to the BJP delegation innocently. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in quick repartee, said the CM’s words would apply to the elections results too.
