
Chief Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted the installation process of the Biometric Attendance System in 115 VMC-run schools on Teacher8217;s Day. This, while more than 60 such machines lie defunct in Narmada and Vadodara districts due to lack of maintenance.
The pilot project was initiated in 298 primary schools in Narmada district and later the same gadgets were installed in 12 taluka panchayat offices in Vadodara district. But within a year, the gadgets started malfunctioning.
Vadodara District Development Officer L C Patel said the Biometric Attendance Machines BAMs in 12 taluka panchayats in Vadodara district suffered a technical failure.
8220;The BAMs in Pavi Jetpur taluka are defunct for the last six months due to a problem in the wiring system. Similar is the case with the other taluka panchayats in other districts,8221; said Patel. A Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan official in Narmada district said only 298 schools are equipped with BAMs; the system is yet to be installed in 390 primary schools.
