
WASHINGTON, OCT 9: The State Department announced on Friday that one of the suspects in the August 1998 bombing of the US Embassy in Dar-es-Salaam has been arrested in South Africa and has been brought to the US to stand trial.The State Department identified the suspect as Khalfan Khamis Mohamed, one of five men indicted last year in the bombing attack which took 11 lives and wounded 80 others.
His arrest in South Africa resulted from cooperation between American and South African law enforcement officials, the State Department said.A reward of up to 5 million dollars had been offered for those who help in the arrest and conviction of the accused bombers.
