
Play for Orissa cyclone victims8217; fund on Nov 27
The city-based Yazdi Karanjia group will stage Kutrani Punchhdi Vaaki8217;, a comedy play at 9 pm on Saturday at the Gandhi Smruti Bhawan, and all proceeds from the play will be sent as relief for the Orissa cyclone victims, a release issued here said.
Rotary Club to form Human Chain8217;
The city unit of the Rotary Club will form a human chain from the railway station to Chowpatty on November 29, in a bid to support the pulse polio immunisation programme and to show solidarity with the Orissa cyclone victims. Volunteers will also collect clothes, grain and other items for the relief of the cyclone victims, a release issued here said.
NCP to join Narmada rally
The Gujarat unit of the Nationalist Congress Party has decided to express solidarity with the Maharashtrian farmer leader Sharad Joshi-sponsored Narmada rally on December 4. In a statement issued here on Monday, party8217;s organising secretaries for Gujarat, Sahdev Chaudhary and Mahendra Dave appealed to all institutions and organisations to join in the proposed rally to be organised in Kevadia colony in Narmada. Describing the Sardar Sarovar Project as Gujarat8217;s life-line, NCP leaders have appealed to their party members to join in the rally in large number.
FOP forms to be available till Nov 30
The date of obtaining application forms for the Friends Of Police FOP scheme has been extended to November 30, Assistant Commissioner of Police Special Branch M B Pethani said on Sunday evening. He added that the date was extended as 8220;there was excessive demand8221; from the public for getting enrolled in the scheme. Necessary directives have been issued to all police stations, Pethani stated, while urging people to obtain FOP application forms from any of the 14 police stations of the city.
