VADODARA, June 7: Students went on the rampage again at the Faculty of Commerce, M S University, on Monday even as Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane reiterated that admissions would be based on merit rather than the first come-first served principle. No forms were distributed after the disturbance, but Kane said the process would be resumed from Tuesday amid police protection.

Former University General secretary of the student8217;s union, Prakash Verma, meanwhile, said, 8220;We have to protest as all the students will not be accommodated. Besides, the administration is considering introduction of a new syllabus. We cannot accept that if students are not given the syllabus in advance.

8220;Also, the university8217;s decision to do away with internal options during examinations is not acceptable to us.8221;

Verma said their other demand 8212; ensuring that no money was accepted for the fee receipts 8212; had been accepted.

He added, 8220;If the university had to implement the rules as per the UGC guidelines, then it should implement all its rules. If classes and the syllabus do not adhere to the guidelines, then there8217;s no way we8217;ll accept examinations rules that the UGC recommends.8221;
