Innovation seems to be the key word at the students8217; protests at the Punjab Agricultural University PAU. Moving away from the age-old hai hai slogans, the protesting students are adopting every creative measure to attract the attention of the authorities.

The students8217; protests thus entered the second day amid slogans like 8216;Good Morning Mr Vice-Chancellor8217; and 8216;Good Morning DSW8217;. As a mark to boycott the first-term examinations, the protesting students also locked the examination hall in the morning. They said the students had decided not to sit for any exam till their demands are met.

Gurprit Singh Brar, PAU Students8217; Association PAUSA president said: 8220;No official from the top brass has come to meet us till now. This only shows the attitude of the authorities towards us but even then we have decided that we will not call off our protest till our demands are met.8221;

8220;The usual practice in the past has been that the university officials would give some assurances and the students go back to their classes. This time we will have the authorities accept our demands per se or fix a time limit for the ones where some work input is needed. Till that time we students will not enter classes,8221; he added.

The Research Fellows8217; Union of the university, meanwhile, also came out in support of PAUSA on Thursday morning. Bikram Doraha, a research fellow, demanded that the non-planned posts of teachers that are not refilled after the serving employee retirees should be revived.
