
Union Minister and LJP chief Ramvilas Paswan on Thursday called for deployment of more Army personnel in upper Assam areas, which are affected by the ULFA violence, till the situation returns to normalcy. After visiting the worst-hit areas of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sibsagar and Dhemaji, Paswan told reporters here that the administration should take effective measures to stop the exodus of non-Assamese people. Paswan, who toured the state for two days, demanded that effective steps be taken to instill a sense of security in the minds of the terror-struck people. He also demanded employment for the families of those killed and injured in the attacks in the past few days and that relief work should be intensified. The LJP chief urged the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to remain calm.
