CHANDIGARH, AUG 23: A five-day training workshop on technical capacity building for Sexually Transmitted Diseases and AIDS awareness was inaugurated by Dr Joginder Singh, Director Health Services, UT Administration, here today.

The training programme has been organised by the Family Planning Association of India, Mohali branch, along with the Regional Management Unit north, Healthy Highway Project sponsored by NACO and Department of International Development 8211; India, British High Commission New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Joginder Singh said the training programme is a highly desirable step in the direction of institutional building efforts in developing skills at the grass-root level to prevent spread of STDs and AIDS. Dr G.S. Chahal, Assistant Director Punjab State AIDS Control Society, said the Healthy Highway Project run by various agencies all over will be highly beneficial for Punjab, both directly and indirectly. S.M. Afsar, co-ordinator, Regional Management North Unit, spelt out objectives of the workshop and dwelt upon the inputs for development of material for quot;behavioural change communication.quot;
