
Cop hurt in clash with mob
NAGERCOIL: A head constable was injured when a mob laid siege to the police station here and clashed with the police on Wednesday. The trouble broke out when the mob staged a dharna in front of the police station, alleging that the police had released Varghese 44, an accused in a temple theft case, whom they had handed over to the police on Monday. The police burst teargas shells to disperse the crowd and in the melee, the head constable, Dhasian, was injured. He was admitted to the Kuzhithara Government Hospital.
Heroin seized in Mizoram
AIZWAL: Mizoram excise officials on Wednesday seized 191 grams of heroin from Champhai bordering Myanmar, about 200 kilometres from here. The contraband, worth Rs 19.1 lakh in the international market, was seized from one Lalparliani of Tuingo village in Myanmar who was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Animal skin recovered in MP
Raisen MP: The police has recovered 19animal skins hunted illegally near Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh.
DSP Manish Shankar Sharma said that on a tip-off, skins of several animals including deer were seized from a gunny bag kept at the residence of one Khemchand Pardi in Bhodia village.
