200 gelatin sticks found in unclaimed bag
HYDERABAD: Police recovered 210 gelatin sticks from an unclaimed bag in a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation KSRTC bus at Imlibun bus station here yesterday. Police said after passengers had got off, the transport personnel noticed a bag in the last seat of the bus and informed the police.Police found 210 gelatin sticks each weighing 140 gms in the bag.
Sandalwood smugglers held
NAGERCOIL: Police fired at a 15-member sandalwood smuggling gang, which hurled country bombs, and arrested two of them, at the Keeriparai forest range in Kanniyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, yesterday. Police also seized some country bombs and crude weapons from them. One of the arrested, Biju 24, injured in the firing, was admitted to the Government Hospital here. Both Biju and the other arrested Anil Kumar 28, are natives of Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram district. Search for the 13 others is on.
Explosives seized in Andhra
GUNTUR ANDHRAPRADESH: Police have seized 43 kg of explosives stored for making country bombs with the arrest of two persons at Vinukonda in Narasaraopet LS constituency where elections were postponed to October 3 following the recent bomb blast in the residence-cum-clinic of Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Minister Kodela Sivaprasada Rao. Police raided a grocery shop and effected the seizure.
Fire at BP oil installation
CHENNAI: Fire broke out near the oil installations of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation at Thondiarpet in the city this evening. No damage was caused to the installations.
