While Jammu 038; Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad came in from severe flak within the party for his inept handling of the controversial Amarnath shrine land issue8212;he was attending a meeting of the party8217;s A K Antony Committee in New Delhi when the issue was boiling in the Valley8212;the Congress central leadership has conveniently sought to brush its hands off the controversy. Top party leaders even blame Azad for backing then Governor S K Sinha who was said to be instrumental in securing the transfer of land from the state Government. Azad8217;s role apart, the apathy of the central leadership to the state of affairs in Jammu 038; Kashmir is evident from the fact that AICC general secretary in charge of J038;K Prithviraj Chavan did not visit the state even once after taking charge in September last year. It8217;s another matter that Azad8217;s detractors in the party claim that the CM had conveyed to Chavan that he should keep his hands off the state.
