State SRPF to be posted in W Bengal

VADODARA, Sept 6: Nine companies of the State Reserve Police Force SRPF, including the ones from Gujarat, would be despatched to West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh for elections duties. The move follows the Election commission8217;s plea to various states to rotate personnel during staggered polls for a uniform spread of force.

According to reliable sources in the administration, while five companies have been despatched to West Bengal, four would soon move to Madhya Pradesh. The companies which have been moved to West Bengal belong to Group 9, 7 and 11 of the SRPF, while four companies from Group 12 would move to Madhya Pradesh.

The request for SRPF personnel from Gujarat, said sources, was made by the Director General of police of West Bengal to his counterpart here. Officials further said that special arrangements were being made to despatch the personnel to these states.
