
CHANDIGARH, MARCH 18: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today released postal stamps to commemorate the 110th birth anniversary of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh RSS founder, social reformer and patriot Keshav Baliram Hedgewar at a function organised by the Keshav Smarak Samiti, at DAV College, here today.
The function began with children presenting the song, 8220;Vande Mataram8221;.Speaking on the occasion, Badal called upon people to preserve unity and integrity of the country to make it a model of strength and growth. Highlighting the country8217;s achievements and failures, he asked people to strive for the removal of shortcomings hindering the progress of the country.
Expressing his concern over the growing menace of corruption in the country, the Chief Minister favoured complete transparency in the working of the government.
Former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court J. V. Gupta, while speaking on the occasion, stressed on the need to spread an awareness among the masses about the rich cultural heritage of the country. Chief Postmaster General Tilak Raj Gupta, while giving details of the stamp, said that its aim was to propagate the ideals of Hedgewar.
Among others who were present included Punjab Ministers Balramji Dass Tandon, Madan Mohan Mittal, Mohan Lal and Manoranjan Kalia, MLAs and Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal.
