Sreesanth advised surgery

Even as the chairman of selectors and the board secretary finally arrived at a consensus over the exact dates for selecting the Test team for Australia, a whole new headache has cropped up for Dilip Vengsarkar and his band of wise men.

According to sources, Sreesanth has been advised surgery in his bowling shoulder, following a slight tear in muscle and is in danger of missing the Australia tour. If the Kerala pacer decides to go in for the surgery, he is likely to remain out of action for at least three months.

However, Sreesanth still has two weeks to decide on his exact course of action and is currently undergoing intensive Ayurvedic treatment. If that helps to heal the injury, he may postpone or do away with the surgery altogether and board the flight to Australia.

Sreesanth, who sustained the injury during the fifth and the final ODI against Pakistan at Jaipur, has already been ruled out of the current series along with RP Singh, but was asked to report to Kolkata for a fitness test.
