AHMEDABAD, FEB 11: Orissa batsman Shiv Sundar Das’ 73 helped the Seniors assert their superiority against India A as they recorded a 52-run win in the opening match of the Hero Honda NKP Salve Challenger Trophy at the Motera Stadium, here on Thursday. India A’s reply to India Seniors’ 279 showed lack of depth as they folded for 227 in 47.3 over with J Arun Kumar (72) playing the tragic hero.

Chasing 279 under lights was going to be a difficult proposition but a fine opening stand of 88 between Ashu Dani and Arun Kumar had raised hope. But the advent of spin things changed and the experienced trio of Anil Kumble (3/34), Sunil Joshi (3/40) and Nikhil Chopra (3/56) spelled India A’s doom.
