From 8216;ma ko vote dena8217; to 8216;mujhe vote dena,8217; it has been a brisk transition for Dushyant Singh. A shy Dushyant is stepping into his mother8217;s shoes, giving the already nervous Congress more sleepless nights.
Dushyant or Raja, as he is called in Jhalawar, maybe media shy, unable to give a speech and generally a bit nervous but he has managed to give the Congress jitters.
After patiently waiting for the Congress to announce that Sachin Pilot would contest from Dausa, the BJP dropped its bombshell, declaring Dushyant as their candidate from Jhalawar.
The announcement left the Congress gaping. The party has tried to defeat Raje for years but failed each time. Then suddenly they announced their candidate. Sanjay Gujjar is being pitted against Dushyant, in what most say is a no contest. Ignoring the huge protests against his nomination and also the fact that he is likely to be replaced by Ram Kishan Verma, Gujjar believes he can defeat the Raje clan. 8216;8216;The Congress has never taken the caste equation in this area into account,8217;8217; he says. 8216;8216;There are many Gujjars here and they matter.8217;8217;
But Gujjar8217;s confidence seems misplaced. Though he is banking on the poor development of Jhalawar to get him votes, the Congress has taken voices of dissent seriously and is expected to replace him.
Meanwhile, the man who caused all the upheavals chooses to remain silent. While he campaigned for his mother during the assembly elections, he stuck to folding his hands and saying: 8216;8216;Ma ko vote dena.8217;8217;
Now he has to say more than just that. 8216;8216;He will learn slowly,8217;8217; says Sri Krishan Patidar, BJP district president from Jhalawar. 8216;8216;Moreover, he doesn8217;t have to say much even now, just that when he comes to power he will complete all his mother8217;s projects. That will see him through.8217;8217;
