Sir Parshurambahu College, one of the reputed institutes in the city is now taking some firm steps to keep tab on the inflow of anti-social elements into the college 8216;without any compromises8217;. In the backdrop of a series of unwanted incidences at the college campus, the college administration has increased the security in the campus and has set up a college campus security committee to address the issues.

Addressing newspersons, office bearers of Shikshan Prasarak Mandali, the parent organisation of S P College and college staff, the college administration assured that every step would be taken to keep the atmosphere on the campus harmonious. M A Pendse, officiating principal of the college said no student has left the hostel in fear.

The S P College campus has been under the scanner after an incident of attempt to murder in college campus on December 17. Two days later, some outside students allegedly beat up the students staying in the boys8217; hostel of the college. In this backdrop, questions were raised on the security arrangements on the campus. Pendse admitted that after these two incidents, there was a sense of insecurity among the students. 8220;But we have talked to the students community and taken every step regarding the security arrangements,8221; he said. 8220;It is difficult to keep tab on every gate of the campus, as there are other institutes and a playground on the campus. But now we have made identity cards compulsory for the students and no one will be admitted without identity cards. We have talked to the students8217; organisations as well and have told them to put up the hoardings only in case of academic activities,8221; he said. 8220;We are trying to increase night rounds of security guards in the college and illuminate the campus completely during night hours,8221; said Pendse.

8220;The campus security committee consisting of representatives of teachers, students and also the governing council of the parent organisation will review the situation in campus once in every 10 days,8221; he added.
