NEW DELHI, NOV 7: Two brothers have been arrested for the murder of their elderly parents over a property dispute. When questioned, Anil 35 and Vinod 42 feigned ignorance, but later confessed to the murders, police said. The brothers allegedly killed their parents, dumped the bodies in two different locations, locked up the house and pasted a gone-on-pilgrimage sticker on the door.

The victims resided in an LIG flat at Pitampura. The murders came to light after two unidentified bodies were found on the morning of November 4 at Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura. The first body was reported found in an open drain in block in Pitampura at 6 am. Within 30 minutes, police received another call about a woman8217;s body behind the Reserve Bank of India colony in Shalimar Bagh 8212; 2 km from where the first body was recovered.

The bodies were shown to some local residents and pictures were flashed on the local cable network in an effort to identify them. The next day police received a call that the bodies resembledRadhey Lal 63 and his wife, Krishna Devi Verma 58, residents of Pitampura.

Later, police found broken bangles and blood stains. They found out that the couple used to live alone, while their three children lived elsewhere in the Capital. Further enquiries revealed that Verma ran a tailoring shop in Kamla Nagar which he was planning to dispose of by November end The shop was the only source of income for Anil, the younger son, who worked here. 8220;Anil, who is slightly handicapped, has four daughters. The shop, he says, was his sole source of survival,8221; said Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyendra Garg.Verma was, however, determined to sell the property. 8220;The sons expected that Verma would get anything between Rs 4 and Rs 12 lakh for the property, though neither of them were sure about the amount,8221; Garg said. The property led to a quarrel between the parents and the two sons.

On November 3, Vinod and Anil reportedly went to their parents8217; home, but found the place locked. They waited till their motherreturned. They had an argument with her, following which they strangulated her with a strip of cloth and hid her body under the bed, police said. When the father returned, they allegedly strangulated him as well. They then mounted the wrapped bodies onto their scooter and reportedly dumped them at the two locations in the wee hours of the morning.

8220;The bodies were tied up in the crouched position to make them look like bundles. In fact, one of the brothers even sat on it to avoid attracting attention,8221; said Garg. The third son, who is a smack addict, did not play any role in the murder, sources added.

Both Anil and Vinod are in police custody.
