Sonia to visit Nanded on October 7

Congress President Sonia Gandhi will be visiting Maharashtra8217;s Nanded district on October seven.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi will be visiting Maharashtra8217;s Nanded district on October seven to participate in the tricentenary celebrations of Guru Granth Sahib.

The Hazur Sahib Gurudwara of Nanded is one of the five takhts of the Sikhs. This gurudwara has a historical significance after the tenth Guru of Sikh religion Shri Guru Gobind Singh.

This will be Gandhi8217;s first visit to the state after the change of guard in Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee MPCC last month.

The state unit is planning a huge welcome for the UPA chief in Nanded. MPCC president Manikrao Thakre has urged Gandhi to address a public meeting there.

He had also called for a meeting of officebearers on Monday to discuss preparations for the public meeting if Gandhi gives her nod for it.

Gandhi had addressed a public rally in Osmanabad after UPA8217;s Rs 60,000-crore loan waiver bonanza for farmers earlier this year.

The Congress President further said the party is not against land acquisition for growth of industries, but the farmers should get proper compensation and also partnership in the land acquired.

We hope to pass it in Parliament soon,8221; Gandhi said.

While highlighting the achievements of the UPA government, she lauded its efforts in clinching the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.

Gandhi said the deal would benefit the farmers by generating employment, and ensuring adequate power supply.
