MUMBAI, DECEMBER 2: The Rs 65 crore Lipi Data Systems has entered into a partnership with Bikram Dasgupta8217;s Globsyn Technologies for setting up a software finishing school in Mumbai. The concept of a finishing school was pioneered by Dasgupta who set up a quot;TechnoCampusquot; in Calcutta two years ago. Dasgupta was formerly with Pertech Computers Ltd and was associated with many successful orders it bagged.

quot; The finishing school concept bridges the gap between the generic and concept-oriented university education and the market demand for application-ready software professionals. It would result in enormous savings for the software company, quot; Dasgupta said. A company like Tata Consultancy Services spends Rs 8 crore annually on training engineers before getting them started on projects. On an average around six months is spent on training new recruits, he added.

TechnoCampus has a branch at Seoul through a joint venture with the 1 billion Korean major Prime Information amp; Technology Ltd. It is planning similarfacilities at Bangladesh, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur through tie-ups with local business groups. In India, it will have five more centres, apart from those at Mumbai.
