SNDT, ZED tie-up to offer infotech courses

MUMBAI, JAN 5: The SNDT University, in collaboration with Zee Education, will offer technology-based courses from the coming academic year. Programmes tailored for students, teachers and the corporate community, including diploma courses in computer-aided fashion design, interior design and office administration will be offered.

Also on the cards are special courses for teachers to orient them on information technology, Uma Ganesh, CEO, Zee Education, said today. Students will be offered facilities to access the Internet and multimedia technology at ZED career academies and chances to use multimedia technology will also be given. SNDT University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mariamma Varghese stated that the university would appoint a panel of academicians to prepare the syllabus. Videos will also be made available for students and opportunities provided for personal interaction with teachers.

The examinations will be conducted on the lines of tests for distance education courses, with some modifications, announcedthe V-C. But the diplomas and degrees will be granted by SNDT University. The fee structure will depend on how computer-intensive the courses are, said the ZED CEO.

Students can enrol either at ZED academies or at SNDT University.
